Putting the 'High' in High Adventure - it's the High Ropes!

So for our final activity of what's been a brilliant week we ventured over to the High Ropes course for lots of climbing and jumping, including the infamous 'Leap of Faith'....

 Go for it!

 Still smiling!

This picture give some sense of scale - the small platform at the top is ten metres from the ground which is even larger than yesterday's abseiling and climbing wall.

Another failed panorama shot by Mr Sturgess which may be of limited interest to a few to none.

This panorama worked a little better, showing much of the High Ropes course, including the all important belayers on the ground, making sure the ropes are taut and secure.

Well done Year 6. You have been absolutely wonderful all week. I have been so impressed with how each and every one of you have pushed yourself with the challenges this week. For some these sort of activities can be very daunting and I can honestly say that as a group you have surpassed my high expectations, with so many people pushing themselves way out of their comfort zone. I would also like to commend the behaviour of Year 6 who have been friendly and polite to staff throughout the week. You have been great ambassadors for the school this week - all credit to you! Well done - I am a very proud Year 6 right now. :-)

Tidy time!

Rooms are tidy, bags are packed, harnesses are on.....it must be HIGH ROPES time! Watch this space for details of the final challenge....the leap of faith!

Talent show!

Last night was the amazing talent show! We some brave singers.

Including a wonderful, solo a cappella  performance of 'Let it go' from 'Frozen'...
Plus a comedy parody of other talent shows which was quite surreal but had the children in the audience amused as much as the adults were confused!
Then there was time for a bonus song/dance performance of a further song from 'Frozen'.

Abseiling (Group B) and Archery (Group A)

Apologies for the inclusion of this picture. I was trying to do some cool, panoramic thing to show the scale of the climbing wall / abseil platform but it just looks sort of odd. Still, I thought if you looked very carefully you might get some sense of scale - it was very high!!

Look carefully......there's a semi-naked man on the ground. Not usually the sort of thing we'd blog about but he makes a very useful marker of scale to show just how high up we are....'very high' to use the technical term (about 9 metres).
 Another failed panorama shot....
Now for some pictures of heroic bravery.....

Meanwhile the archers were looking very serious and focused....

Back to the heroes of abseiling.....
 All smiles!

No, no, no. Don't do that. Don't look down from up there. It's very high!
 All down safe and happy!
